As part of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of respect for intellectual property rights and to highlight their role in supporting the national economy, Tlemcen University, in collaboration with the Regional Customs Directorate, organised a study day entitled “Protecting Intellectual Property to Preserve National Production and Enhance Business Competitiveness” on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the auditorium of the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences.Held under the slogan “Imitation violates rights and poses a risk to citizens’ health and safety—let’s unite to reduce its dangers,” the event brought together a large audience, including representatives from various security, economic, and administrative sectors, as well as university professors, students, and members of the media.
The opening ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem, followed by a speech from Professor Ali Hamza Cherif, Vice-Rector for External Relations, representing the University Rector. He emphasised the university’s key role in promoting a culture of innovation and respect for intellectual property. Mr. Noufel Laajilat, Regional Director of Customs, highlighted Customs’ commitment to fighting counterfeiting and enforcing intellectual property laws, stressing the importance of such protection for attracting investment.The scientific programme featured rich and diverse presentations: Professor Zakaria Sarri Hassoun outlined the key steps in startup creation, and Dr. Fatiha Baraka discussed industria
