The Department of Spanish Language organised today a symposium titled “Discourse of Resistance and Empowerment of Minorities: Identity Building and Social Struggles in Spain and Latin America” under the presidency of the two instructors Mahi Wissam and Yahla Houda. This symposium aimed to study the role of culture and social movements in resisting marginalisation, as well as in constructing minority identities and empowering them to participate in society.
The symposium was held in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Languages, the Vice-Dean in charge of postgraduate studies, and the Director of the Laboratory of Andalusian Literary and Linguistic Studies.
In conclusion, this symposium provided an important academic space to highlight the struggles of minorities and their role in building their identities and resisting marginalisation, emphasising the importance of culture, education, and dialogue in achieving social justice and equality within pluralistic societies.
