The University of Tlemcen welcomed on Monday, September 22, 2025, Dr. Maureen Frances Rooney, an American researcher and recipient of the Fulbright US Scholars grant, in the presence of the university’s rector, Pr.  MEGHACHOU Mourad, a representative from the U.S. Embassy, and several university officials.

 

Dr. Rooney will undertake a ten-month academic period in the English Department at the Faculty of Arts and Languages, engaging in both teaching and research activities.

 

The Fulbright program is one of the leading international academic and cultural exchange programs, having benefited over 400,000 participants from more than 160 countries.

 

The university director welcomed Dr. Rooney, reaffirming the University of Tlemcen’s commitment to providing favorable conditions for a successful academic stay, while Dr. Rooney expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and her eagerness to develop fruitful academic collaboration.
