National colloquium on Cinema:Image,History, and Memory

The conference hall of the Central Library of Tlemcen hosted on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, a national colloquium dedicated to the cinema of the Algerian revolution, organized by the research laboratory “Linguistic Diversity, Literary Expressions, and Cultural Interactions” under the direction of Prof. Latifa SARI MOHAMED.
 
This event takes place on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution, celebrating the struggle of Algerians for their independence. The colloquium brought together academics and researchers from several institutions across the country.
 
Among the guests of honor were filmmaker Hajira Sebata, awarded eight prizes for her film “The Yellow Plane”, and director Tayeb Touhami, recently recognized in Egypt for his film “E'sakia”. Both filmmakers were honored by the Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Arts, Prof. Abdelrahman KHERBOUCHE, and the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Translation, Prof. Wassila MOUROU.
 
Screenings of the two films were followed by enriching discussions, offering participants an opportunity to exchange views on historical memory and the representation of the revolution in Algerian cinema.
