In a gesture of profound respect, the Faculty of Letters and Foreign Languages, under the leadership of its Dean, Prof. KHERBOUCHE Abderrahmane, organized a commemorative ceremony on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in memory of the late professors KEROUM Boumediene, former Dean of the Faculty who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, and GUERROUCHE Abdelkader.
The ceremony brought together teachers s, students, the University Rector and his staff, as well as former professors and university officials, in the presence of the families of the deceased. Speeches highlighting the merits of the two educators were delivered by Prof. BOURDIM Abdelhafid for GUERROUCHE Abdelkader and Dr. BENSNOUSI Hicham for KEROUM Boumediene.
In his address, the Dean, Prof. KHERBOUCHE Abderrahmane, emphasized the importance of honoring those who have significantly contributed to the academic journey of the faculty and announced a series of initiatives, including naming university facilities after the late professors. The University Rector, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad, praised this initiative as a testament to the institution’s recognition of those who served it with dedication.
The families of the deceased expressed their gratitude for the support and participation received during the event. The ceremony included the recitation of Qur’anic verses, prayers, and the reading of Al-Fatiha. Following the event, the defense hall of the Department of Arabic Literature was named in honor of Prof. GUERROUCHE Abdelkader, while the department’s library is now dedicated to the memory of Prof. KEROUM Boumediene, commemorating their invaluable contributions.
