On the morning of Tuesday, 18 November 2025, the University of Tlemcen witnessed a dynamic opening of the National Seminar on Maintenance and Industrial Safety, held under the theme: “Maintenance and Industrial Safety in Service of the Enterprise”, reflecting the university’s vibrant scientific activity.

The seminar opened in the Grand Lecture Hall of the City Center Campus with a formal session including a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem, and welcoming speeches highlighting the growing importance of maintenance and industrial safety in enterprises, particularly amid the global digital transformation.

The first scientific session featured lectures on industrial maintenance in the era of advanced technologies 4.0 and 5.0, showing how artificial intelligence supports maintenance operations and predictive fault detection. Discussions also covered operational excellence, industrial competitiveness, and the link between design quality and innovation in enhancing enterprise performance. A subsequent open discussion gathered researchers, professionals, and students, followed by a scientific poster session attracting wide attention.

The second session focused on sustainable maintenance, presenting modern practices in quality, health, safety, and environmental management, as well as vibration and acoustic monitoring of machinery and preventive maintenance strategies based on equipment refurbishment, forming a foundation for industrial development in modern enterprises.

After a short break, afternoon sessions addressed environmental innovation, intelligent systems, and technology transfer, as well as maintenance of production equipment and strategies for optimizing industrial supply chains. The closing session highlighted occupational safety and emerging industrial risks, including an interactive lecture on maintenance of small boat hulls using composite materials, a field developing rapidly in Algeria.

The first day concluded with a collective discussion, emphasizing that maintenance and industrial safety are not merely technical specialties but a strategic vision supporting enterprise sustainability. The seminar will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 November 2025, with new scientific sessions.
