6th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on (Economic Sciences) 22-26 August 2017

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) in partnership with the Lindau Council of Nobel Laureate, Germany is seeking bright and highly talented graduates, masters, PhD Students and Post-Doc Fellows to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting dedicated to “Economic Sciences” to be held in on 22-26 August 2017 in Lindau, Germany.

Participation in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is a prestigious award under the patronage of farmer German President Horst Köhler and funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Bunderministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit is a unique opportunity for (a) most promising young scholars in Economic Sciences and (b) young and highly qualified economists from research institutions to enhance their knowledge, establish new contacts and discuss relevant topics through interaction with Nobel Laureates and international young economists in panel discussions, seminars, and during various events of social programmes. Visits to some advanced research centres in Europe are also part of this program. About 30 Nobel Laureates and 400 international young economists are expected to attend this meeting. Permanent nationals of the OIC Member States studying or working in their respective countries and fulfilling the following eligibility criteria can apply. The award is worth about €5000 per individual, including travel grant, registration fee, economy class return air ticket and lodging boarding for one to two weeks in Germany.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to their principal field of study and to interdisciplinary work. All nominated participants should meet the following criteria to participate:

  • Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger at the time of meeting.

  • Applicants must have completed 16-years of their Education in Economic Sciences, (first-class throughout the academic career)

  • Post-docs should have published outstanding research papers in widely recognized academic journals

  • Applicants should not hold a permanent position

  • Applicants should not have participated in previous Lindau meetings

  • Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic accomplishments

  • Applicants should be able to communicate in English, and have the desire to participate in discussions.

  • Applicants should commit themselves to be present for the full duration of the meeting.

SELECTION:

  • Preference will be given to the candidates who have published their research internationally.

  • After scrutiny at COMSTECH, names of suitable candidates shall be forwarded to the Lindau Council in Germany who will make the final decision.

  • In view of the strict deadlines by the Lindau Committee, nominations received after, December 05, 2016, will not be processed.

  3. Letter of Recommendation from your academic supervisor and/ or internationally renowned scientists, including the specialist scientific expertise of the referee. Note that the letter of recommendation will be forwarded to the Lindau Council if you are nominated by COMSTECH. Two letters of recommendation are suggested.

  4. SomeIMPORTANT guidelines for supervisors to prepare recommendation letters (introduced by the Lindau Council)

  5. Length: roughly one DIN A4 page/ one standard letter size submitted in pdf format.

  6. Language: English.

  7. A description of the candidate’s achievements that could also cover details not found in candidate’s CV. A description of the nominating institution is not necessary.

  8. An Individual letter for each candidate and not a standard letter that is the same (or very similar) for all the candidates.

  9. The letter should be written by a person who knows the candidate well, e.g. supervisor of the Masters or PhD thesis.

Please keep in mind that the letter of recommendation is anIMPORTANT factor in the evaluation process and that it does influence the result.
