Pr.Elyes Adam Zerhouni, former Director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a global pioneer in medical imaging and health research, visited Abou Bekr Belkaid University – Tlemcen on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Far from being a mere formal visit, this was a significant scientific milestone, connecting the experience of a distinguished Algerian scientist with the ambitions of young students.

The main lecture hall was filled with students from various fields eager to learn from an international success story that began in Algerian medical schools.

 In his lecture, Professor Zerhouni emphasized that passion for science, intellectual curiosity, and self-confidence are the foundations of any lasting success. He also stressed the importance of collaborative, interdisciplinary research to tackle modern scientific and medical challenges.
