The University of Tlemcen Celebrates the Amazigh New Year 2976

On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the University of Tlemcen organized a celebration marking the Amazigh New Year 2976, in an atmosphere imbued with symbolism and cultural significance.
The event took place in the conference hall of the Central Library – New pole, in the presence of the university community. In his opening address, the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad , emphasized that the celebration of the Amazigh New Year reflects pride in the national identity and highlights the richness and diversity of Algerian culture. He also stressed the university’s role in fostering a sense of belonging and preserving cultural heritage.
The program included a lecture addressing the main cultural and social aspects of the January festivities, highlighting the richness and diversity of Algerian culture, as well as the values of solidarity, attachment to the land, and pride in cultural heritage promoted by this occasion.
This celebration is part of the University of Tlemcen’s ongoing commitment to promoting cultural awareness, strengthening the institution’s ties with its historical and civilizational environment, and reinforcing the shared Algerian identity within the university community.
