The University of Tlemcen took part in the study day entitled “Integrating the results of partnerships and scientific research into the development of cereal sector and dried legumes: Increasing production and improving quality”,organized by the Algerian Interprofessional Office of Cereals (OAIC) on 20 January 2026 at the Higher Institute of Management and Planning, under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, and with the participation of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Rector of the University of Tlemcen was represented at this event by the dean of the faculty of SNVSTU.

The presentations focused on the selection of high-performance new wheat lines, the characterization of local lines, the improvement of fertilization practices, the use of ozone in combating plant pathogens, as well as the selection of new chickpea varieties, with the aim of strengthening national food security. Participants also emphasized the importance of reinforcing cooperation between the university, scientific research institutions, and stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
