The first International Conference of the English Department at the University of Tlemcen was officially opened in the Rectorate meeting room. The first day of the conference was organised by the LLC Research Laboratory and the English Department, reflecting the strong scientific and institutional commitment of both structures to the success of this event.
The official opening featured recorded videos by the Rector, Prof. Mourad Megachou, and the Vice-Rector in charge of External Relations, Prof. Ali Hamza Cherif. Both delivered their speeches in English, demonstrating a genuine linguistic effort, a clear openness to the international academic sphere, and strong support for the university’s internationalisation strategy.
The opening session continued with speeches by the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Prof. Wassila Mouro Hamza Reguig; the Vice-Dean in Charge of Postgraduate Studies, Dr Omar Rahmoun; the Head of the English Department, Prof. Frid Daoudi; his Assistant in Charge of Pedagogy, Dr Meryem Mengouchi; and Ms Kara Terki Hadjira, Head of the NTIC Centre.
The opening ceremony was perfectly orchestrated by Dr Zakaya Ameur-Said, President of the Organising Committee, who managed the conference with impressive professionalism and thorough organisation. Mr Mounaim Fekih, a part-time French language teacher in the Department of English, was responsible for recording and editing the videos.
The ceremony was concluded with a moving speech delivered by the Presidents of the Conference, Prof. Faiza Haddam and Dr Kamila Ghouali, who sincerely retraced the various stages of the organisation, the challenges encountered, and the collective efforts that made the realisation of this event possible.
