National Conference on Electoral Engineering and Divided Societies

On 10 February 2026 at 9:30 a.m., the Laboratory of Strategic Studies and Political Research organized a national conference entitled:“Electoral Engineering and Divided Societies: Challenges of Representation and Imperatives of Stability”,presided over by Dr. Mohamed Amine Bendjilali, who delivered the inaugural lecture.
The opening session was chaired by Pr. Mourad Bensaid, Head of the Research Team “Legal and Judicial Security” within the laboratory, in the presence of Pr.Fethi Ouhib, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, and Dr. Meriem Zekri, Vice Head of the Department of Political Science.
This scientific event formed part of an in-depth academic reflection devoted to the analysis of electoral engineering mechanisms in societies characterized by political, social, or identity-based cleavages. The proceedings examined, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, issues relating to modes of political representation, institutional mechanisms for conflict regulation, and the conditions necessary for consolidating the stability of political systems.
The conference brought together faculty members and researchers from thirteen (13) national higher education institutions. The scientific contributions were organized into five (05) thematic sessions, two of which were held in person. Nearly thirty (30) papers were presented, employing comparative, analytical, and prospective approaches, and reflecting the diversity and rigor of the conceptual and methodological frameworks adopted.
The proceedings, which lasted approximately five consecutive hours, generated sustained and rigorous scholarly discussions between presenters and students, fostering a productive academic exchange and contributing to the advancement of research perspectives in the field of political science
