The University of Tlemcen had the honor of welcoming on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, Her Excellency Ms. Robin Lynn Wettlaufer, Ambassador of Canada to Algeria, received by the University rector,Pr. MEGHACHOU Mourad , accompanied by his administrative team.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore avenues for expanding scientific and academic cooperation between the University of Tlemcen and Canadian universities, within the framework of promoting international openness and strengthening university partnerships.

During the introductory presentation delivered by Pr. Ali Hamza Cherif, Vice-rector of the University in charge of External Relations, attention was drawn to the diversity of disciplines offered by the University, as well as its efforts to consolidate its international presence through participation in global scientific events, promotion of academic mobility for students and researchers, and the development of internationally oriented cooperation projects.

Her Excellency the Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome, emphasizing the central role of education and culture in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Canada and Algeria. She also engaged with the attendees’ concerns regarding the support of scientific research, the exchange of expertise, and the launch of joint academic programs between higher education institutions in both countries.
