The Amphitheatre of Foreign Languages (third section) at the University of Tlemcen hosted, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the official ceremony marking the creation of two new faculties: the Faculty of Letters and Arts and the Faculty of Foreign Languages. This major academic event forms part of the university’s ongoing restructuring and modernization process.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Rector of the University, Prof. Meghachou Mourad, accompanied by the Vice-Rectors, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Prof. Brexi Reguigue Mouro Wassila, and the Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Arts, Prof. Kherbouche Abdelrahmane, in addition to the Vice-Deans of both faculties, administrative staff, and members of the university community.
In their opening addresses, the two Deans emphasized that this administrative and organizational separation represents a strategic step toward strengthening the principle of specialization, enhancing the quality of education, and expanding research perspectives. They also highlighted its positive impact on university governance and on improving academic performance in the service of students.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to honor former administrative officials, staff members of both faculties, scientific clubs, and the football team, in recognition of their efforts and contributions in supporting this institutional transition with commitment and responsibility.
In a gesture of recognition and institutional appreciation, the Deans and the Secretary General of the University paid tribute to the Rector, acknowledging his leadership and continuous support for the restructuring and development process.
The event concluded with a closing address by the Rector, who expressed his pride in this significant milestone, affirming that the new organizational structure will strengthen complementarity and coordination between the two faculties within a unified institutional vision aimed at achieving academic and scientific excellence.
