Established in 2019 by UNESCO’s Executive Board, the UNESCO–Russia Mendeleev International Prize in Basic Sciences aims to promote and reward excellence in the fundamental sciences, notably chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology — disciplines that are essential to the advancement of innovation and sustainable development.
The Prize recognizes major contributions in research, dissemination of knowledge, and international cooperation in the field of basic sciences.
UNESCO invites its Member States, including Algeria, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as non-governmental organizations in official relations with UNESCO, UNESCO Chairs, Category 2 Centres, international scientific unions, and universities to submit individual nominations for this 4th edition.
- Two (02) laureates will be awarded, each receiving an amount of USD 250,000.
In this regard, and to ensure their transmission to the MESRS within the prescribed deadlines, application files must be submitted to the VREX no later than 10 March 2026.
Women scientists are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
