On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day and the Arab Language Day, the University of Tlemcen organized, on March 1, 2026, a national symposium entitled “Voices of the Ancestors… Without Borders: Chants of the Roots and Bridges to the Future”, under the slogan “From the Voices of the Ancestors to the Language of Science: A Heritage That Unites the World.” Initiated by the Intensive Language Teaching Center, in partnership with the SILAD Laboratory – Arabic Language Teaching for Non-Native Speakers team, and under the supervision of Prof. Nassima SAIDI, this academic event was held in the presence of Prof. HAMZA CHERIF Ali, Vice-Rector for External Relations, and Prof. Wassila MORROU, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, alongside faculty members, researchers, and students. The presentations and discussions highlighted the pivotal role of language in preserving cultural identity, promoting intercultural dialogue, and adapting to contemporary transformations. The participation of national and international experts enriched the symposium, emphasizing the importance of combining authenticity, openness, and innovation in linguistic and educational policies. At the conclusion of the event, the University of Tlemcen reaffirmed its commitment to promoting linguistic diversity, strengthening the academic prominence of the Arabic language, and consolidating cultural and scientific bridges at both national and international levels.
