The “Mustapha Djafour” auditorium at the University of Tlemcen hosted, on June 12–13, 2026, the 12th congress of the diabetes research Laboratory, held in parallel with the 18th congress of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Tlemcen University Hospital (CHU).

The scientific event brought together university hospital professors, specialists, researchers, and heads of medical departments from various regions of the country. The opening ceremony featured the participation, via videoconference, of the Minister of Health, Prof. Mohammed Seddik Aïa Maassoudane, who emphasized the importance of scientific research in improving the management of diabetes and chronic diseases.

The Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad, along with national health officials, also attended the event. Prof. Ali Lounissi highlighted the key role of this congress in strengthening scientific exchange and cooperation between researchers and healthcare professionals.

The program included scientific lectures, presentations, and workshops focusing on the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, as well as the presentation of national and international research findings.

The event reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between universities and healthcare institutions in enhancing medical research and improving the quality of healthcare services in Algeria.
