Mr. Ahmed CHAALAL, president of the regional conference of western Universities and Rector of the University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed, chaired, on the morning of Wednesday, 8 July 2026, the opening of the regional meeting dedicated to the management and organization of archives in accordance with the unified records retention schedule adopted at the national level by the General directorate of National Archives.

This meeting aims to harmonize archives management mechanisms across higher education and scientific research institutions, by ensuring better organization, rigorous preservation, and compliant processing of administrative documents in accordance with the national standards in force.

The meeting brought together the Secretary Generals and heads of archives departments from university and research institutions across the Western region of Algeria. Participants discussed the mechanisms for implementing the unified archives retention schedule, while sharing their experiences and best practices, with the aim of strengthening documentary governance and improving the quality of administrative management within the institutions of the sector.
