A significant milestone in the development of distance education at the university level

Tlemcen University celebrated, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of students who obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English through the Distance Learning (FAD) program. The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Ahmed Belhani, President of the National Commission for Distance Learning and representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Held at the invitation of the Rector of Tlemcen University, Pr. Mourad MEGHACHOU, the ceremony was attended by the university’s vice-rectors, faculty deans, university officials, academic staff, administrative executives, and students’ families, who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone marking the completion of the academic path of the first graduating cohort in this innovative mode of education.

This first graduating cohort in the Bachelor’s degree program in English through distance learning represents a major step forward in the development of this educational approach at Tlemcen University. It reflects the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to modernize the university system, accelerate digital transformation, and expand access to higher education through innovative and up-to-date pedagogical approaches.

The ceremony concluded with the awarding of graduation certificates to the successful graduates in an atmosphere of pride and accomplishment. The graduates received warm congratulations from the university community and their families, along with wishes for continued success in their academic and professional careers.

Following the graduation ceremony, Pr. Ahmed BELHANI, accompanied by the Rector of Tlemcen University, Pr.Mourad MEGHACHOU, and the members of the delegation, conducted a field visit to several university facilities and pedagogical infrastructures.

The delegation visited the audiovisual laboratory dedicated to distance learning, where it was briefed on the technical and logistical resources implemented to support this educational mode. The visit also included the professional Quran recitation studio, the smart conference and thesis defense room at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the simulation room dedicated to law students, particularly for virtual trial exercises.

These modern educational facilities contribute to strengthening practical training, developing students’ skills, and continuously improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Through this ceremony and field visit, Tlemcen University reaffirms the strategic importance it places on distance learning as a key driver for the modernization of higher education, the promotion of pedagogical innovation, and the advancement of digital transformation. This commitment reflects the university’s determination to provide students with high-quality education aligned with modern academic standards.
