On Sunday, 19 July 2026, the University of Tlemcen welcomed a delegation of partners from the SAXEED. Think Sustainable project, in the presence of the Rector of the University, Prof. Mourad MEGHACHOU, and the Vice-Rector for External Relations, Prof. Ali HAMZA CHERIF. The visit was held within the framework of strengthening international academic cooperation and fostering the exchange of expertise in the fields of innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship.
Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the SAXEED. Think Sustainable project brings together partner universities from Germany, Algeria, and Tunisia. Its main objective is to promote sustainable entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and the development of innovation mechanisms within higher education institutions. The visiting delegation included representatives from partner universities, notably the University of Tunis El Manar and the University of Sousse.
The visit commenced at the University’s City Centre Campus, where Rector Prof. Mourad MEGHACHOU warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in expanding international academic collaboration. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Prof. Ali HAMZA CHERIF, Vice-Rector for External Relations, and a presentation highlighting the University of Tlemcen and its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Participants were then introduced to the SAXEED. Think Sustainable project, its objectives, the results of the online survey, and the action plan for the 2026–2029 implementation period.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the i2E Student Center, where they explored the University's support ecosystem for student entrepreneurs. Presentations focused on the funding mechanisms available for innovative projects, the process of transforming ideas into start-ups, and the services provided by the One-Stop Shop, which offers an integrated platform for guiding students, facilitating administrative procedures, and supporting the creation of innovative enterprises.
This visit reflects the University of Tlemcen’s commitment to strengthening its role as an active partner in international academic projects, expanding its engagement with global expertise and best practices, and contributing to the advancement of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
