Malika RAHAL, Contemporary historian is giving Lecturers

Malika RAHAL, Contemporary historian specialized in the history of Algeria and more generally of the contemporary Maghreb, will animate a series of lectures at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences. The first conference entitled "The Algerian National Movement through the Patriotic Journey of UDMA" is scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9:00 am at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences - New Pole, Rocade.

Aggregated in history in 1998, she studied Arabic and prepared a PhD in history, directed by Benjamin STORA, specializing then in the history of contemporary Algeria and the Maghreb. She became a senior lecturer at the University of Nottingham, UK, before becoming a CNRS researcher before returning to Sciences Po Paris.

Her research initially focused on the history of Algeria before its independence and more specifically on the question of pluralism within Algerian nationalism. Her research, always conducted with witnesses, gave rise to several books and scientific articles, including a biography of Ali Boumendjel, a nationalist militant who was assassinated during the Battle of Algiers.
