The University of Tlemcen, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology, organized a study day on "Mathematics and society" at the level of the Faculty of Nature, Life, Earth, and univers, on December 21, 2022, in the presence of the rector of the university of Tlemcen  Pr.MEGHACHOU M OURAD, vice-rector of external relations Pr.HAMZA CHERIF Ali, teachers and students. This study day was held in recognition of the importance of mathematics, which is becoming more and more important in all sectors of the economy of modern societies.

The occasion that will serve as the catalyst for a string of initiatives aimed at elevating this discipline to a level appropriate for our nation's educational system, training infrastructure, and economic system This scientific event is a component of the government-supported initiatives intended to advance this day's teaching, research, and application in this field. Several speakers presented talks on the significant part mathematics plays in a variety of fields.

This event noteworthy was opening  by a conference emined by the professor and history of science expert Ahmed Jabbar, a former minister, in which he discussed the contributions of mathematicians in the golden age of Arab-Islamic culture.
