In an atmosphere marked by loyalty to the national memory and respect for the sacrifices of the country’s heroes, the University of Tlemcen welcomed Mr. TACHEREFT Abdelmalek, Minister of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders, accompanied by Mr. Youssef BECHELAOUI, Wali of the Wilaya of Tlemcen, Ms. Mahdia Ben Bella, daughter of the late President and Moudjahid Ahmed Ben Bella, the Wali-Delegate of the Sidi Abdallah administrative district, the President of the APW, deputies from both chambers, representatives of the revolutionary family, the local delegate of the Ombudsman, as well as university officials and members of the security commission.
The Minister and his delegation were received by the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. MEGHACHOU Mourad, accompanied by the Vice-Rectors, Deans of Faculties, and several university officials.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share visions regarding the preparations for the national conference: “Algeria and Global Challenges: Manifestations of the Liberation Revolution”, scheduled for December 16, 2025, at the Regional Museum of the Moudjahid of Tlemcen, under the supervision of the Minister. The event aims to present an intellectual perspective combining national memory and the international context, confronting the experience of the Algerian Revolution with contemporary geopolitical transformations, in order to draw lessons from the past to better understand current challenges and anticipate the future.
The conference will bring together a distinguished group of researchers, historians, and university professors, as well as Moudjahidine and representatives of civil society, in a space of dialogue that confirms that the university is not only a place of teaching but also a center of awareness and living memory for the nation.
The visit also included an inspection of the Ahmed Ben Bella Library, located at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This knowledge space goes beyond the preservation of books and documents; it embodies the national saga and the experience of a people, retracing the life of a man whose influence remains deeply rooted in the collective memory of Algerians. The library thus serves as a bridge between generations and a place for scholarly reflection on the history and trajectories of Algeria.
This initiative is part of the national program of the Ministry of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders, aimed at reviving historical memory and honoring the leaders and symbols of the Algerian Revolution, including President and Moudjahid Ahmed Ben Bella, a founding figure of the Algerian dream and of the values of liberation, sovereignty, and independence.
Through its commitment to hosting this visit and organizing the national conference, the University of Tlemcen reaffirms its scientific and patriotic role and seeks to promote the culture of November among students, reconnecting with the legacy of martyrs and Moudjahidine to pass knowledge, awareness, and responsibility on to future generations.
