The Research Laboratory on Foreign Language Policy in Algeria and Teacher Professionalism at the University of Tlemcen, in collaboration with the National Higher School of Fine Arts, is pleased to announce a national conference entitled “Rethinking the Humanities: Languages, Arts, and Cultural Practices”, to be held on 9–10 December 2026, chaired by Dr. Khedidja HAMMOUDI, with Prof. Belhadj TORCHAOUI as honorary chair.
The conference aims to bring together teachers, researchers, and artists to explore what the humanities might become when words, images, sounds, and cultures are considered side by side.
The programme covers several themes, including languages, intermediality, Islam and cultural imagination, the arts, music and sound, architecture and the memory of places, living heritage, the humanities in the age of artificial intelligence, and arts-based pedagogy. The organisers welcome oral presentations, poster presentations, and workshops.
Selected papers will be published in an issue of *Art studies* (Class C, ASJP), published by the Laboratory of Arts and Cultural Studies at the University of Tlemcen.
