"Islamic Finance in the Era of Challenges and Opportunities: A Symposium Discussing Modern Trends"

The Money and Financial Institutions Laboratory of the Arab Maghreb at the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Management Sciences of the University of Tlemcen, in collaboration with elite researchers and experts from various national universities, held a national symposium, both in-person and virtually, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, on "Modern Trends in the Islamic Finance Industry: Digitization, Social Islamic Finance, and Sustainable Islamic Finance," chaired by Dr. Asmaa Hajila. The aim was to discuss the latest advancements and developments in this vital field.

This gathering comes at a time when the Islamic finance industry faces growing challenges, including the rapid digital technological revolution and significant global economic changes.

The symposium addressed three main axes: Islamic financial technology and its applications; social Islamic finance and the mechanisms for development and diversification of its sources, mechanisms, and tools; as well as the integrated solutions that financial technologies can bring to this sector to make it more efficient and sustainable in resource mobilization, management, and distribution. It also discussed sustainable Islamic finance, emphasizing the need to consider environmental, social, and governance aspects to strengthen this type of financing, in addition to relying on technological innovations and attempting to integrate digitization with sustainability to achieve innovative products contributing to greater financial inclusion and expanded access to Islamic financing, thus helping to achieve sustainable development.

This event saw active participation from researchers who presented solid scientific work, leading to valuable discussions and exchanges of perspectives in a collaborative environment aimed at developing this industry.
