International Essay Competition on World Cultural Heritage – YICGG 2026

Dear Students,
Would you like to make your voice heard on the major cultural and climate challenges of our time?
Do you want to promote a heritage site from your region, connect with students from around the world, and compete in Venice?
The YICGG 2026 (Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance) is the perfect opportunity for you!
Organized by the Silkroad Universities Network (SUN), Fudan University (China), and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Italy), this prestigious event celebrates its 12th edition this year.
  • THEME 2026 « World Cultural Heritage and Human Civilization »
You may choose one of the following sub-themes:
World cultural heritage and dialogue among civilizations
AI for heritage revitalization and tourism regeneration
World cultural heritage and multilateral cooperation
World cultural heritage and climate change.
  • WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT
An original proposal (essay) in English
An optional but highly recommended case study (+5 bonus points in the first round)
Maximum length: 1,000 words
Preferably based on a local, concrete, and lesser-known heritage site from your region
  • KEY DATES
Outline submission (subject to revision): April 23, 2026
Final submission (essay, case study, and CV): May 10, 2026
Announcement of finalists: May 8, 2026
Annonce des finalistes : 8 mai 2026
Final event (presentations and award ceremony): July 20–24, 2026, in Venice, Italy

Support for finalists includes:
Complimentary one-way airfare and accommodation for one representative per team
Additional financial assistance (200–600 RMB), based on participation, financial need, or promotional contribution
Team bonus: +1 point per member for multinational and multidisciplinary teams (up to +5 points)
